Baby Bedside Cot
A baby bedside crib (or next-to me crib) is a bassinet-style cot that attaches to the side of your mattress. This lets you reach your baby and comfort him without having to get up from your mattress. Some models also have an incline feature to help relieve reflux.
You should only put your baby to sleep in a bassinet or crib when the mattress is firm and flat. This will decrease the possibility of him being suffocated.

Bedside cots, sometimes referred to as bassinets or cosleepers, are a great way to keep your baby close to you in the early months. The cots are made to fit close to your bed to allow you to easily carry your baby to you to feed them at night or soothe them to sleep. These are also perfect for mothers who have recently had a c-section.

The Baby Hug 4 In 1 Air is a different option. It also comes with a drop down side and can be transformed into a recliner. This is an excellent choice for infants and toddlers and gives you the flexibility to adjust your baby's sleep position as they grow.
large bedside cot to note that, while a bassinet can be used as an alternative to an existing cot but Red Nose strongly recommends sleeping your baby in their own cot from birth to six months. This is because SIDS risk is significantly greater when babies share beds, especially with adults, and also because it's not safe for an infant to sleep in a bassinet that doesn't meet mandatory Australian safety standards.
Cots are usually safer than bassinets as they are fixed in height that guarantees there's no gap between your baby's mattress and the adult bed. Cots are generally larger and can be converted to full-size or toddler beds as your baby grows. This could save you money.
It is important to take into account your budget as well as the dimensions of your bedroom or nursery when choosing a model. Be aware that cots are more expensive than bassinets, but they can be an investment that can last for many years and will be utilized by your child as she grows.
You'll also need a mattress for your crib or cot. The mattress must be firm, flat and breathable to allow your baby to get an adequate night's sleep and decrease the risk of developing breathing problems or pressure sores. Be cautious of mattresses that are second-hand as these may increase your child's risk of SIDS, and make sure to look for one that has been endorsed by the CPSC and complies with the most current guidelines. Be cautious not to overload the crib, or use duvets or bumpers, pillows or baby slings. They could create a suffocation risk. A breathable baby mattress should be sturdy enough to support your baby's spine. Online, you can find a variety of baby mattresses, ranging from budget-friendly options to luxury brands. If you're not sure, go to the store and try it out for yourself.
